The World Economic Forum (WEF) interviewed Global Adaptation Institute (GAIN) Board Member, Robert Edwards, in its “Ask a Leader” video series. Edwards discusses the progress being made at Davos in shifting the climate debate toward adaptation.
Edwards attended the session “Adapting to Climate Risk,” which featured the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the prime ministers of Pakistan and Kenya and GAIN Board of Directors Chairman, Mr. Kenneth Hersh.
Edwards stressed that as people are already suffering, the need for focusing on adaptation investments in coastal protection, water and food security is urgent. He also noted that over the last several years, world leaders gathering in Davos are increasingly bringing up the importance of adaptation:
We are starting to turn the corner. We are starting to say, ‘let’s solve the problems that people are experiencing today.’
Mr. Edwards is a member of the GAIN Board of Directors and Managing Director at NGP Energy Capital Management.
