The U.S. Department of Agriculture has released a U.S. Drought 2012: Farm and Food Impacts statement and resource tool to provide more information about the effects the drought will have on businesses and consumers in the upcoming year or more.
2012’s U.S. drought has been the most severe in more than 25 years, which is “seriously affecting U.S. agriculture, with impacts on the crop and livestock sectors and with the potential to affect food prices at the retail level,” according to USDA.
The website, which will be updated periodically, includes the categories of food prices and consumers, farms, crop sectors and livestock sectors.
